As your County Supervisor, I want to welcome you to my personal website.  I am proud to serve the residents of Hayward, Union City, Newark and portions of Fremont and Sunol. 

As your Supervisor, I am committed to accountable and responsible fiscal management that protects essential public safety, healthcare, economic and youth services.  As a former City Councilmember I fully understand the needs of seniors, youth, children and families in our communities and am committed to providing the outstanding, accessible service you deserve.

In 1980 I founded and became President/CEO of Tri-CED Community Recycling, California’s largest nonprofit recycling operation.  I am proud that it is one of the most successful nonprofit recycling operations in the nation with a proven record of creating well-paying union jobs (Tri-CED is affiliated with the Teamsters Union Local 70).  In these tough times, I believe strongly that quality jobs are more important than ever

Effective, accountable County government requires skill, understanding of the community, and energy.  I have been a  resident of Alameda County almost all of my life and served 12-years as a Union City Councilmember.  I will work with my fellow Supervisors to balance the County’s budget and make sure money is spent on community – not political – priorities.

Politicians talk about the problems of gangs and drugs, but I have a proven track record putting promising youth to work to keep them off the streets.  As Supervisor I am implementing similar programs by expanding partnerships with local colleges and schools and creating employment opportunities to provide direct services for our youth, away from crime and drugs. 

I was honored to have received a unanimous vote of support from the County Board of Supervisors in appointing me to serve you.  Please join my fellow County Supervisors, firefighters, police officers, educators, business leaders and City Council members in Hayward, Union City, Fremont, Newark and Sunol in supporting my candidacy this November.  I would be honored to continue to serve your needs.
